What determines
your price per carat

Six factors drive the wholesale price of a lab-grown gemstone. Understanding them helps you buy smarter and communicate value to your clients.

Gemstone Type
Sapphire, emerald, ruby, moissanite, and diamond each have different growth costs and market demand dynamics.
Carat Weight
Larger stones require longer growth cycles and have lower yield rates. Price per carat increases non-linearly above 2ct.
Colour Grade
Premium grades (Kashmir Blue, Pigeon Blood) command higher prices than standard grades due to tighter growth parameters.
Cut Quality
Excellent and Ideal cuts require more raw material loss. Complex shapes (heart, marquise) cost more than standard rounds.
Certification
GIA and IGI reports add $30–80 per stone. Bulk certification packages are available at reduced per-unit cost.
Order Volume
Larger orders unlock deeper discounts. Repeat monthly orders qualify for preferred pricing tiers.
